Thr Light Of Travel
I need to travel again soon. I never realized how much of a roamer I am. Lately I’ve been very antsy sitting in one place for too long. I don’t necessarily care to be rich, but I wish I had the finances to be able to go see the world. Traveling is important for a person and healthy for the soul. If for no other reason than to help you appreciate where you are now, it’s something everyone should do. Experience the world outside your comfort zone for weeks at a time. You’ll never forget the experiences.
I remember when I was younger my father would talk about his time in Europe. He spoke with such excitement. There was a light in his eyes when he would tell me stories that kept my interest more than the stories themselves. I had very little interest at the time of going abroad, but I knew I wanted what he had in those eyes, whatever it could have been for me. Now I’m a firm believer that light—that specific one I saw, at least—comes from traveling. It’s amazing how much we have taken that for granted.
There was a time in history when traveling was not only a way of life, but of survival. Now it’s but a means of escape; a vacation from the ordinary to explore the unordinary that is someone else’s life as they dream of the same thing but in and of a different place.
