jessicanncats posted The Smiths’ version of this song and it made me think of this. This is a great cover by the star of Sucker Punch that was made for the soundtrack. The soundtrack is full of great covers. Check it out and check out both version of this song. They are all amazing.
This maybe my favorite song by the Foo Fighters. It wasn’t a hit single; it wasn’t even played on the radio. It’s just track 11 from Colour and the Shape and a very simple, yet powerful song.
This has quickly become one of my favorite bands. This group is so musically talented and diverse. I suggest you go do a YouTube search for them and check out a few more of their songs.
Starlume is a band originally from my hometown of Branson, Missouri and the surrounding area. They all worked in the theater industry there (the lead singer played Jesus in a production called The Promise as well as Joseph in The Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat) before moving to Nashville to pursue something bigger with their band. They have made a name for themselves there, but haven’t quite hit the big time yet. This song, however, was featured on an episode of One Tree Hill which, as far as I know, is still their shining moment as musicians. It’s also one of my favorites of theirs, although their unique sound and catchy choruses make all of their songs enjoyable.
speak to me in a language i can hear humor me before i have to go deep in thought i forgive everyone as the cluttered streets greet me once again i know i can’t be late, supper’s waiting on the table tomorrow’s just an excuse away so I pull my collar up and face the cold, on my own the earth laughs beneath my heavy feet at the blasphemy in my old jangly walk steeple guide me to my heart and home the sun is out and up and down again i know i’ll make it, love can last forever graceful swans of never topple to the earth and you can make it last, forever you you can make it last, forever you and for a moment i lose myself wrapped up in the pleasures of the world i’ve journeyed here and there and back again but in the same old haunts i still find my friends mysteries not ready to reveal sympathies i’m ready to return i’ll make the effort, love can last forever graceful swans of never topple to the earth tomorrow’s just an excuse and you can make it last, forever you you can make it last, forever you
This band. CandyRat Records, the same company that produced Andy McKee’s music has brought us this incredible band. These guys deserve all of the awards. All of them.
Last month I tweeted a picture to @davebarnesmusic for a Halloween costume contest he was having on Twitter. The picture of the Beaker costume I made ended up getting me 4th place and I was notified shortly thereafter that I would be receiving my prize in the mail. I had no idea what the prize would end up being (although I was fairly certain it would be some Dave Barnes memorabilia) and, in fact, nearly forgot all about it until I opened my door this morning to find a package sitting on my doorstep. I opened it up and, sure enough, it was a copy of Dave Barnes’ Christmas CD and an ornament!
Thanks, Dave! I had a bit of a listen to it on my way to work this morning and it is as good as I expected. If you don’t know who Dave Barnes is, you should definitely check out his music. He’s a great singer, songwriter, and a hilarious human being. And I would venture to guess that Christmas is his favorite holiday.
My name is Derek. This is my blog. Sometimes I think of things and write them down. Other times I think of things and forget to write them down. Once in a while, I write things down without thinking of things in the first place. This will be a mixture of all of those (although you may not notice the ones I forget to write down).
